Freshride cyclists collect €65,000
With one more Spinning Marathon scheduled on 17 November, the Freshride held on Saturday 8 September was one of the most successful editions of the past years.
The more than 60 cyclists who took part in the tour cycled either 202 or 101 km.
Freshride is an initiative taken by Harvest House and TNI. The participants – from the fruit and vegetable sector – take part in the tour to take a stand against cancer. In addition to their sponsoring by companies that fully support Freshride, the participating cyclists also sold well-filled crates of vegetables. The funds collected by Freshride are donated to the Daniël den Hoed Foundation (a cancer research centre) and to a number of local good causes.
Gerard de Haas, a sweet-pepper grower and one of the driving forces behind this event, is full of praise about the cooperation throughout the entire chain. ‘Cooperation seems to be a fashionable word, but what we did last Saturday was another great example of how we can really get results by working together. We once again collected a large amount that will offer a new Daniël den Hoed scientist an opportunity to carry out research in the fight against cancer. That’s fantastic.’
