We're going for colour!

We like to bring more colour into your life! And onto your plate, too! A plate with bright colours looks attractive and gives you an appetite. Eat as many different colours as possible, then you know that you’re on the right track. The more colour you eat, the more varied nutrients you give your body. Trend watcher Femke Mosch believes that we consumers are absolutely ready for more colour and variety on our plate.

"Consumers want to eat the recommended quantities of 250g vegetables per day, but they also want variety. Food should also look and taste attractive," says Femke Mosch. This gives a boost to sorts of fruits and vegetables that are available in various colours, such as peppers. Did you know that a red pepper contains more vitamin C than an orange? As for tomatoes - the redder the colour, the more lycopene it contains.
And we keep adding more and more colour to our product range! Our tomatoes and peppers are available in many colours, so that you can easily add more colour to your meals.

Colourful Ladies: cheerful, sweet pointed peppers

Colourful Ladies, the new mixed pack of pointed peppers, is colourful and tasty. A unique mix of red, yellow and orange pointed peppers with a sweet bite. This trio of pointed peppers will make you smile. They taste deliciously sweet, too. The three colours almost outshine each other in the sweetness stakes - the red and yellow pointed peppers scored 8 out of 10 for sweetness and the orange ones even scored 9 out of 10! The pointed pepper is ideal for stuffing or grilling on the barbecue. It also tastes delicious when you brighten up your salads with crunchy, sweet rings of pointed pepper.

This mix is unique - the orange pointed pepper is cultivated by only one grower in the Netherlands. That is Thimo van Marrewijk from Poeldijk. He started off by cultivating red pointed peppers but his ultimate dream was to achieve a cheerful three-colour mix of pointed peppers. Thimo set out to find the ultimate yellow and orange pointed peppers and he succeeded. That is how the Cheerful Ladies' mix was born.

"Three colours of tomatoes are a real taste sensation!"

Our grower Kees Stijger from Honselersdijk works with passion to cultivate three colours of tomatoes. Cultivation of three colours of tomatoes is quite unique. Kees proudly tells us "This is not run-of-the-mill work. You need to make sure that you constantly deliver an extremely high level of quality.
The results speak for themselves. Tomatoes in three colours are a real feast for the eyes. Of course, they also taste great. The orange tomato is full-flavoured and firm, the red one has a light, sweet flavour and the yellow one is fresh-tasting and juicy. They taste fantastic in summer salads."

The three colours of tomatoes are available in 100% cardboard trays, each containing 2 red, 2 yellow and 2 orange tomatoes. Kees and the marketing department at Harvest House worked jointly on the design for these trays. "Consumers want sustainable packaging. Therefore, we started looking for ways to pack products without using plastic film. We came up with the 100% cardboard type that is fully disposable with waste paper. That means it is easy to recycle."

This packaging is the result of a few months' worth of measurement, testing and trials. Kees is proud of it - "I think it looks really good. You can clearly see the colours of the tomatoes, there is enough ventilation, but you can't just take a tomato out of the package."

Get even more taste with Food Fellows

Perhaps you already know our Food Fellows brand with its great tasting ready-to-use products made from the tastiest surplus produce. We are now expanding the range with even more tasty products using the finest vegetable fruits. The EASY product line, consisting of soup, pasta sauce and tomato coulis, is adding a mildly spiced chilli sauce and a spicy curry sauce to its range. What's more, we are introducing the SUPERB line with its handy, fresh packs for Bruschetta and Grill Veggies.

Food Fellows has always been known for its delicious soups and sauces made from surplus produce. Now, we are putting even more emphasis on taste, quality and convenience. That's a good reason to give the brand a fresh, new look. It's still a bold-looking brand with its black-and-white logo, but it's going to have a bit more colour. Using more colour makes the products look more appetising. The use of different colours also makes it easier to distinguish between our sauces.

Besides having the best taste, quality and convenience, Food Fellows also focusses on health and sustainability.

Colour, colour and even more colour!

We have a lot more colour in our product range! From red, orange and yellow snack tomatoes to pink beef tomatoes. The snack pepper comes in three colours and sweet peppers are available in all colours. We complete our colour palette with green cucumbers and purple aubergines.  That makes it easy to put every colour on your plate.

Ask your contact about the possibilities.

Over to rPET

We have replaced the PET containers and shakers used for our snack veggies with packaging made of 100% rPET. This is a plastic made out of recycled PET materials and it is 100% recyclable. In this way, we take responsibility for reducing the impact of plastic on the environment. This switch over means that we use a lot less water and we reduce our CO2 emissions by 21% per year. That is equivalent to the emissions of a car travelling almost 500.000 kilometres, more than 11 times round the world!

Fair trade snack tomatoes available all year round

The snack tomatoes produced in Morocco by our growers Agro Care have recently been awarded Fair Trade status. These delicious, responsibly produced tomatoes are being harvested as we speak. When you buy Fair Trade products, you support conscious consumerism. The workers earn a fair income and they receive various types of training courses. Furthermore, a percentage of the turnover is deposited into a fund with every Fair-Trade tomato that is sold.  This money is used to start up new projects for the workers.

Because the Fair-Trade certificate has been awarded for cultivation in Morocco, our Fair-Trade snack tomatoes are now available all year round.

Harvest of Health has a new look

Harvest of Health's tasty tomatoes have a full, sweet taste and an attractive, deep-red colour. This comes from the high levels of the antioxidant lycopene present in the tomatoes. What's more, these tomatoes are packed with potassium and vitamin C. We have given this brand a fresh, new look to show how these tomatoes fit in perfectly with a dynamic, healthy lifestyle. Starting in spring, Harvest of Health products will be on sale in their new packaging. The tomatoes are available in three sorts: mini vine tomatoes, cocktail vine tomatoes and vine tomatoes. The quality is always perfect!

Acting against corona

With our top-quality vegetables we work together with our partners to contribute to a healthy future. We are also keen to play our part in other ways, too. Especially now! That is why we started the "Snacking for each other" promotion. Tomatoes are on sale in special promotion packs. Part of the proceeds is donated to the Red Cross so that we support their efforts in the battle against the corona virus.

Furthermore, we also give support to our colleagues in the horticultural sector. We took part in the #Flowerboostchallenge to give them a helping hand. We bought flowers and plants from the growers and gave them to our colleagues to take home with them. A blooming successful action!

Have you ever wanted to "Say it with Veggies" instead of with flowers?

In these times, a hug and a chat are no longer seen as normal actions. Luckily, there are countless digital opportunities for staying in touch with the people you love. That's why Harvest House launched the action  www.degroentjesdoen.nl (Say it with Veggies). Our very own vegetables play the starring role. We have designed six funny cards which you can use to spread some happiness.
